Side Hustles to Make Extra Money
Updated: Jan 22, 2022
If you're looking to be financially free, you can reach that goal even more quickly when you add to your daily 9-5 income.
Most people don't want to cut back on their spending, but they can learn how to MAKE MORE MONEY!
Making more money is a lot more fun than cutting back on spending, right?
Before I get to the side hustles, I want you to set an intention for the extra money you will be making. What are you going to do with it? Is it going straight to debt? Into a savings account? Building up your emergency fund? Planning a wedding?
Okay, do you have your intention? Don't skip this step. If you're gonna be working extra hours, you wanna have a reason. This will inspire you to get started and keep going.
Sell on Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, Let It Go, etc.
These are all really simple to get started with. I've had great luck selling This can be anything from clothes to books to that collectible Starbucks cup you have collecting dust. List it and let it go.
Teach What You Know on Outschool
Guess what?! You don't have to be a teacher! There are people teaching biology, cake decorating, and gardening. The best performing classes are usually life skills outside of a normal education that parents want their children to know. You set your price. You make 70%, Outschool gets 30%. If you charge $10 a kid and have 10 kids, that's $70! (If you need help with the video to get hired, let me know!)
Clean Houses
Do you enjoy the satisfaction of a clean floor? Want to get in a workout while making someone's life easier and making some cash? This is for you. Write a post on Facebook announcing your services and prices. I'm sure many people will take you up on it.
Deliver Pizzas/Wait Tables/Retail
Picking up extra work on weekends and evenings may be the way to go for you. It's the most simple. You just show up and they pay you. You won't have to "find" your customers or put effort into selling stuff. You can make some good cash waiting tables/bartending!
Lawn Care
You get to be outside in the sunshine. You can make your own schedule. You can do it after you get off work. You can decide if this is just mowing or if you want to take on landscaping also. Charge what you want to make.
Babysit/Dogsit/Housesit
The babysitting will be more work (unless the kids are older) but you will be able to charge the most. Are you a stay-at-home mom? You could have families drop off their little ones in the morning and can stay in your own home. Dogsitting and housesitting are usually more of a longer commitment. You may be asked to sleep at the house. If you feel comfortable go for it, but always be cautious in unfamiliar environments.
Add on: Dog walking (especially in big cities) can be quite an opportunity. Put out ads and post on Facebook. Let people know you're available and ready to work.
Photography
I left this one for last because it will require an investment. If you are taking professional photos you will need a professional camera and all the accessories that make those beautiful photos possible. Try to take some photos of a friend or your family members to see if you even like it before putting out the money.
I hope those are helpful. And, listen, you don't have to do this forever. Just do it until you get to a place where you feel good/comfortable financially. Then, you can quit or you may just love it and make it into your full-time gig. Who knows?!
P.S. We didn't even talk about passive income but that will be coming soon!
